A far superior method of dimming LEDs is to use Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). With PWM an LED or strings of LEDs can all be driven with the recommended forward current, with the dimming achieved by turning the LEDs on and off at high frequency - so fast that the human eye cannot see the blinking effect. The longer the on periods are relative to the off periods, the brighter the LEDs will appear to the observer. In a future update of this article I will present a simple electronic circuit to achieve this and also a cicuit to make an LED flicker like a candle.
Ik ga toch even germanium diodes (1N60) proberen om te kijken of de dim-range dan groter is.
